Expecting Parents

Congratulations! Having a child is one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of your life. We are excited to join you in the journey.

Choosing the right doctor for your new baby is a milestone in itself. Due to the extensive history of Pediatric Associates in the community, many of our expecting parents were patients themselves in their earlier days. Other patients hear about us from satisfied friends or identify us from their insurance plans. No matter how you enter our doors, we warmly welcome you and your new baby to our practice.

Many expecting mothers and expecting fathers begin their relationship with us by visiting our office and meeting with one of our physicians before their baby is born. These complimentary pre-natal visits allow you to observe our office first hand, and enable you to talk to a doctor about any concerns.

Many new parents have questions about physician scheduling and hours, newborn care, immunizations, circumcision, and breast-feeding. Others would simply love a few suggestions for the best baby books for expecting parents, and just want time to meet their new doctor! We are happy to meet with you and discuss these or any other issues.

Feel free to call the office if you want to arrange a expecting parent visit with our physicians.

Our physicians visit newborns at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza and St. Lukes East. When you arrive at the hospital, indicate a Pediatric Associates physician as your chosen pediatrician. After your baby is born, the hospital will contact us and we will visit your new baby within 24 hours of birth.

While at the hospital, we will see your baby every morning until discharged. If you are delivering your baby at another hospital, a community pediatrician will see your infant. Pediatric Associates will assume full care of your infant once a follow-up visit to our office is made.

Your baby's first visit to our office is determined by the experience in the hospital. The follow-up visit depends on several things. For example, if you are a first time breast-feeding mom, we will likely see you a couple of days after discharge. If you are an experienced parent whose baby gained weight while in the hospital, your first appointment may be when your baby is 2 weeks old. The doctor taking care of your infant in the hospital will let you know when to come to the office.
